 Breaking of the Bread

“And in the breaking of bread ye may know Him!” (1158-9)

“For the Christ, as manifested in Jesus, was the first, is the foremost, is the essence of both bread and of wine.   For that element which is life-giving physically of bread, or that giveth strength to wine, is the source of life itself.  Thus in partaking, one does literally partake of the body and of the blood in that communion.” 5328-1

Eucharist – Food for the Soul

“(Q) [294]: How does partaking of the emblems instituted at the Lord's Supper supply food to my soul?

(A) In that they are the emblems, or emblematical of the body and the blood, the Spirit MOVING upon same brings the life flow. As has ever been given, in Him we live and move and have our being. Then the partaking of those emblems - or of that body and that blood - supplies or becomes food for the soul.”  262-89

Midnight Meditation at ARE Born in the Tradition of Watch Night Celebrates 47th Year

First ARE New Year's Eve Midnight Meditation

In the 1960's, when the center of the first ARE of New York affiliate created by Hugh Lynn Cayce and David Kahn was located on 16th Street in Chelsea, I was a regular at the Wednesday night prayer for healing group.  One Christmas my niece, Cassandra, a devote Catholic, came to visit, so I decided to take her to Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at St. Patrick's.  When we arrived at the cathedral, we discovered that it was necessary to have tickets to attend.  This disappointment was the inspiration for a New Year's Eve midnight "meditation" at the ARE where entrance would be assured.  Instead of going to church to observe New Year's Eve's Watch Night Service, as was the custom in my family, I proposed that we hold a midnight meditation at the center as the early observers had done in their homes.   Nell Clairmonte, Shane Miller, Danny Livingston, Vernon Enoch and I attended that first ARE of NY New Year's Eve Midnight Meditation.  The practice stuck and happily continues by the Prayer for Healing Group facilitated by Paul Dorogoff and Norman Curtis, Dec. 31, 2011 at the ARE following the Science of Light Breaking of the Bread and Musical Celebration of Watch Night.                 - Elyse Donathan Curtis, Ph.D.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Watch Night is also known as "Freedom's Eve" because of the one held on December 31, 1862 that was attended by those awaiting the news that they were freed.   This year, as we are in the first round of the 84-year Uranus cycle that sets the pace for the world, our Watch Night wish in this cycle is for:

Freedom physically from war and hunger

Freedom mentally from subtle mind control by the dark forces

Freedom spiritually to continue seeking the Light of Christ

Celebrating Christmas

(Q)  Do we celebrate Christmas at approximately the right time?

(A) Not a great variation, for there having been the many changes in the accounting of time, or accounting for the periods from the various times when time is counted - not far wrong - twenty-fourth, twenty-fifth of December, as ye have your time now.  5749-8

Best Wishes for A
