“on either side of the river was there the tree of life” Rev – 22.2

Dr. Elyse Curtis, center, with her mentors and “spiritual parents”: artists and former NY ARE Center Executive Directors: Nell Clairmonte and Shane Miller at Nell’s home in Virginia Beach in 1991

Planting a Tree for

Nell and Sane

Shortly after the new ARE of New York Center moved to 30th Street in 2004, I had a dream wroth with symbols in which I heard a voice say: “Plant a tree for Nell and a tree for Shane.”   This command, to plant two trees, of course, had a dual meaning.  It could be symbolic or literal.  I found that it was both.

The Symbolic Meaning

Both Nell Clairmonte and Shane Miller had been part of the New York group at the first center in Chelsea on 16th Street that spent seven years studying the 24 Cayce Readings on The Revelation of John the Divine, which resulted in the first work: The Commentary on The Revelation.  Shane went on to produce the second work: The Slides of The Revelation.  After the center moved from 16th Street, I moved into the space and “heard” the third work, The musical of the Revelation based on Part I, the fist eleven chapters, that included a balladeer that told the story.  Later, I added Part II, the other eleven chapters, to the Ballad and published it as a book: Ballad of the Revelation.  Revelation Theology, a system of ritual worship and enlightenment had also come from the work done by my friends, Nell and Shane.

The Revelation Musical had been presented as a full production in the 1970’s and as a concert in the 1980’s.  Revelation Theology had been the basis for the formation of Science of Light Seminary, which was founded in 2000 and went on to train and ordain selected ministers of Science of Light.   The Ballad of the Revelation had been published as a book, and for a year I conducted a study group of The Revelation.  Because I connected Nell and Shane to The Revelation, I considered that there must be something else that I should do on The Revelation to honor the readings and them.  I planned to add lectures on The Revelation with the music of the ballad in September as part of the Science of Light series on the Edgar Cayce Perspective.  However, because of an unforeseen out-of-town emergency, Ze'ev Kolman's appearance scheduled for July 23 was postponed until August 13, 2005.  I needed to replace him on short notice with a subject I knew intimately that would not require much time for preparation.  The Science of Light program for July 23, 2005 was replaced with "What the Sleeping Prophet Really Said: AN OVERVIEW OF THE REVELATION!"  We opened the series with the slides made by Shane.  That was the beginning of the symbolic tree.  The literal one  still lay ahead.

Ballad of The Revelation

Songs of The Revelation Musical and The Ballad as a Rap followed the lectures with audience participation and Norman Curtis on keyboard.

Some of the most important and enlightening information that came out of the Cayce Discourses were contained in the 24 Readings given on The Revelation of John the Divine, which explained that enigmatic work and how it relates to the individual.   The message of The Revelation of John the Divine to the seven churches in Asia as it relates to our seven spiritual centers in the body individually is covered in The Ballad in an easy-to-understand way.    It is available at the ARE of New York Bookstore and on line.
